Calculating Wind Chill

Arctic travel can be difficult because of the combination of cold temperatures and high winds. The term "wind chill" was conceived by Paul Siple, a polar explorer and member of Admiral Richard Byrd's 1928-1930 Antarctic expedition.

Here's the formula:

Te= 33-(10.45+V-V(33-T)

22.04

where:

Te=Wind chill (Celsius)
V=Wind speed in meters/second
T =Air temperature (Celsius)

Choose five (5) cities at different latitudes. Include the North Pole. Visit an Internet site such as www.weather.com to find the local weather conditions for each city. You will have to record the wind speed and air temperature in Celsius to determine the wind chill for each location.

Calculate the wind chill for each location and compare results.
