  • The People of Siberia - This lessons focuses on the Dolgan people of Siberia, and it also asks students to build a "culture capsule" that encourages them to think of the things that matter in their own culture.
  • How do you view Siberia? - Have students use the Internet to locate maps of Siberia and also maps that show where they live. Pose the following questions:
    1. Describe Siberia from where you live. Use directional terms such as north, southeast, etc.. What kinds of transportation would you use to get there?
    2. Does Siberia appear bigger than it really is? Why is this so? What other countries appear larger than they really are?
    3. What is the latitude/longitude of the southern border of Siberia? What is the latitude/longitude of the northernmost tip of Siberia?
    4. What other countries have a similar latitude as Siberia? Do any of these places have a different climate? Why or why not?
    5. Name five countries which are larger than the land of Siberia and name five countries that are smaller than Siberia.
    6. What do you imagine life in Siberia like based on their latitude?
